Bereaved Parents Month
At Foothill Funeral, we understand that life’s journey is filled with moments of joy and sorrow. As a compassionate funeral home, we support families through the toughest times of their lives. Thus, it is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge July as National Bereaved Parents’ Month. Losing a child is an experience no parent should ever have to endure. And yet, countless parents face this devastating reality every year. The pain of such a loss is incomprehensible, and it leaves a wound that never truly heals. This month, we come together as a community to offer solace. We also understand, and want to strengthen parents who carry the immense burden of grief.
Infant Mortality Month
Every 2 hours and 37 minutes, a baby in the United States dies before his or her 1st birthday. What’s more, about 3,700 infants die in the first year of life every year. The 5-year average for 2014–2018 was 39 infants per 100,000 live births. September is National Infant Mortality Awareness Month. In observance of that event, we wanted to examine this sad and serious subject. If you, or someone you love, has lost an infant, please accept our sincere condolences. Processing grief for infants is a delicate matter. When that infant dies from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), the associated shock can compound that grief.
