Scary Funeral DirectorAs we prepare, as a nation, to celebrate Labor Day on September 3, we wanted to take this opportunity to share everything we love about the fruits of our own labors in the mortuary industry. Does that sound weird? Yeah, we actually like what we do, but not in a creepy-old-timey-mortician sort of way.

People

Like all professions, mortuary directors encounter our fair share of weirdos. But, thankfully, those are the exceptions instead of the rule. Most people come to us when they are vulnerable and in pain. We count it a privilege to help them migrate the somewhat confusing death profession. And while we love working with people with pre-planning, since those are handled when raw emotions and stress are not at all-time highs, we value working with people at their time of need.Funeral Pre Plans Sad Man

Products

When we started working in the funeral industry in 1996, associated available products were limited. In the intervening years, our industry has blossomed. Today, options abound relative to caskets, urns, flowers, Funeral Flowers Glendoramemorial gifts, decorator items, funeral programs, and more. Our favorite trend are eco-friendly, bio-degradable products and mementos made from cremated remains (a.k.a. cremains). We support earth-saving measures like these and look forward to becoming the first funeral home in Los Angeles County to embrace one such process, bio-cremation.

Process

We respect the rule of law relative to the State of California, where we are based, which dictates the process by which dead bodies should be handled. To that end, our funeral director, Manny Godoy, is a licensed embalmer as well as a bereavement minister, ordained by the Los Angeles Archdiocese. What’s more, we are currently in the process of Eco-Friendly Funeralsexpanding our commercial footprint, so we can perform more work at our own location. We recently annexed a space in nearby Covina, where we are now doing our own prep, care and refrigeration. This is of great benefit to our clients because their loved ones never leave our care. With the expanded location, Manny is able to handle all of embalming, personally. And Foothill Funeral & Cremation Services handles all of our own transportation, which includes picking up from place of death.

“We’ve come a long way from the creepy mortician in a black suit, to being friends and neighbors in the community,” says Manny. “We are the last person you want to deal with professionally but glad that you have a friend who handles that kind of stuff when the need arises.”

Alternative Life Celebrations Funerals GlendoraPrevailing Attitudes

While people still take death seriously, as well they should, most appreciate the freedom afforded in 2018 to celebrate their loved one’s life in the same way he or she lived rather than conforming to formal ceremonies once considered the norm. While we still facilitate traditional funerals, we also manage life celebrations. It’s exciting to live at a time when people feel free to be who they are in life and death.
